UX Researcher, Prototyping, Iteration Design, Presentation
Project Time
4 Weeks: including initial proposals, iterations, prototype testing, and final project analysis.
Part 1
Proposal
This project consisted of ideating and prototyping an app that pertains to a specific social issue, in my case, nutrition.
Right away I knew I wanted to create an app that beats all of the calorie-tracking apps and does not feed into unhealthy eating habits, instead, I wanted to heal them.
Part 2
Research
After the initial proposal was approved by the Professor, we were tasked with presenting wireframes to people within and outside of the class, and observe them trying to complete certain tasks.
The wireframes could then be iterated on using the findings from the UX research.
I found that the wireframes changed from my initial design when incorporating others’ intuition and thought process.

Part 4
Prototype
The final prototype came from iterations and multiple iterations, while sticking to the branding, color palette, initial idea for the project and user research findings.
Try it yourself!
Tasks include: adding a new log (pre-dated / written), following the log with a ‘mood’ survey, and finding a new recipe and adding it to “Your Favorites”.
Part 5
Presentation
The final task was to create a brief presentation for the app. This included building on the branding and marketing side, and creating a short but sweet poster that caught users’ eye and included a Mockup and general features of the app.
Part 6
Final Takeaways
There are always aspects about a project you can look back on and wish to change.
This project as a whole taught me the importance of user research when developing ideas, because a design can look nice, but it is useless if a general demographic is not able to complete the tasks the project is meant for.
